What is Band?

Message from the director:

Hi St. James Parents! My name is Ahna Carswell. I am currently a PreK2 assistant teacher here at St James. I hold a Music Education Degree in instrumental music K-12 from William Carey University. My primary instrument is Clarinet, and I have been involved in band since I was in the 6th grade. Through band, I have received many honors and scholarships, and have participated in various musical ensembles. The St. James Elementary 5th and 6th grade after school band program strives for excellence in musicianship, but also in citizenship as well. This is a positive organization that will give your child a well-rounded experience in dealing with others, as well as teach them music! NO prior music background is needed. I look forward to working with you and your child!

Students who participate in music have the lowest levels of current and lifelong use of alcohol, tobacco, and illicit drugs among any group in our society.
