What is Band?

Message from the director:

Band is offered starting in 6th grade here in the Tenino School District. Students have the option of starting on Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet or Trombone. Second year players have the opportunity for Bells/Percussion and Saxophone. Band is an enrichment subject that teaches cross-curricular skills that foster creativity and expression. Music in Tenino is driven to create a positive experience that fosters a students growth and continued learning. Our band students excel in leadership, academics and athletics. Learning an instrument is a challenge that teaches a deep appreciation for the process of learning and touches every area of their academic personality. Your student will be a part of a program that consistently pushes out well-rounded graduates with a passion for excellence in life.

Students who participate in music have the lowest levels of current and lifelong use of alcohol, tobacco, and illicit drugs among any group in our society.
